A Sleep Idea I'm Going to Try
I am always looking for ways to improve my sleep. Some ways are harder than others (dry January or eating dinner before 6, for example). I have a Fitbit and am learning all the time about things that affect my sleep. I try things and some help and some don’t. It’s a process, in other words.
In the Sunday Routine column in today’s New York Times, Doris Ho-Kane (owner of Bạn Bè bakery in Brooklyn) shares her end of night routine:
My favorite thing to do before I go to bed is kind of weird. I go to PoetryFoundation.org, and I’ll look up Asian American poets. I’ll read through Ocean Vuong or Mei-mei Berssenbrugge. It really relaxes me and makes me think in a very soft, lyrical way. I have really good dreams when I am able to absorb more of those poems.
I read before bed but never have tried poetry. It sounds peaceful. I don’t find it weird at all. I’m going to give it a try.
